PROS AND CONS OF VENUS DENTAL CROWNS
To have an accurate assessment of whether Venus teeth are good or not, let’s take a look at the pros and cons of this type of dental crown.
1. Pros
- Safe, biocompatibility
The material used to make Venus is non-metallic and does not cause any irritation or discomfort in the oral environment. Therefore, you can perform restorations with Venus teeth without any concern.
- Endurability
High quality porcelain tooth casts are fired at a temperature of 1200 degrees Celsius, that is why the porcelain teeth are twice as durable as regular Zirconia porcelain teeth.
- Lifespan
The usage time of Venus porcelain teeth is much longer than some other all-ceramic teeth. Lifespan can be up to 10 – 15 years, or even more if under good care conditions.
- Reasonable price
Compared with other high-end all-ceramic teeth, the price of Venus teeth is still much affordable. Specifically, Ceramill, Emax, Lava Plus,…
2. Cons
- Less durable than other all-ceramic teeth
Although the hardness of Venus teeth is much higher than metal porcelain teeth, it is still inferior to other high-end porcelain teeth such as Cercon, Emax, DD Bio, etc. Therefore, the lifespan of Venus teeth is not as high as other types.
- Color
Venus’s color is not as bright and clear as high-quality porcelain teeth, and the reflectivity is not really good. But it’s still difficult to detect with the naked eye.
- Impact on natural teeth:
When in contact with natural teeth, the process of crafting Venus porcelain crowns may require some reduction in the size of the tooth structure. This may affect the overall health and structure of the natural teeth.
WHO SHOULD INSTALL DENTAL CROWNS?
VENUS DENTAL CROWN PROCEDURE
- Step 1: General dental health examination and check-up
Before getting dental crowns, the dentists will conduct a general examination of your oral health and remove any remaining food particles in the mouth to prevent potential dental diseases. After that, you will have an X-ray taken of your jaw to get a more detailed assessment of your teeth’s condition.
- Step 2: Developing a treatment plan and choosing a dental model
Based on the previous X-ray images, the dentist will use software to analyze and create a suitable treatment plan for each patient. You will be consulted on the steps of getting Venus dental crowns and shown different simulated images of your teeth.
- Step 3: Anesthetizing and preparing the tooth for the crown
The dentist will begin by anesthetizing and grinding the tooth. Based on the measurements and tooth size, the dentist will conduct a trial on the real tooth to check for alignment in terms of color and shape. The dentist will also check the gum line, shape, and bite to ensure that no errors occur during the crown fitting process. After thoroughly checking, the dentist will send the information to the lab to create the crown.
- Step 4: Permanently attaching the crown
Two to three days after the crown has been crafted, you will return for the dentist to attach the crown. To secure the crown to the tooth, the dentist will use a special dental cement to complete the crowning process. Finally, the dentist will provide instructions on oral care and important notes to ensure the effectiveness and longevity of the dental crown.
BẢNG GIÁ RĂNG SỨ VENUS TẠI BEDENTAL
Besides guaranteed quality, Venus is a mid-range porcelain type with a reasonable price, suitable for the needs of many customers. At BeDental, Venus porcelain costs 4,000,000 VND per tooth. This reasonable price has earned the trust and choice of many clients.
However, Venus dental crown is not as popular as it used to be, due to the production of many more advanced porcelain types that completely overcome the old Venus’s weaknesses in hardness, aesthetics, and longevity. Typically, Venus teeth have a hardness of about 600 MPa, which is 2-3 times stronger than natural teeth. However, compared to the latest all-porcelain types with a hardness of up to 1400 MPa, the durability of Venus teeth is still not considered ideal.
The light reflectivity of Venus is also not very high, so while Venus porcelain teeth are white, they do not have the natural bright and translucent look of the latest dental crown types. Regarding the lifespan of porcelain teeth, Venus porcelain typically lasts about 15-20 years, whereas many other premium porcelain types can last a lifetime with proper care.
